hazard on the Sevier River Empty hazard on the Sevier River

Post by Ron Mon 13 Jun 2011, 11:35 pm

WE just ran the Sevier tonight and there is a hazard about a mile above the bridge at the old rail road tunnel. The flood has piled a rock bar up on the river left so all the water goes out though the trees now. There is an island just above this and the left channel of the island looks clear. When the water goes down there may not be enough to get though that side. If you run the right channel down to where the trees are you'll have to scrape across the gravel bar. The widest channel though the trees has a huge root ball at the end on it. There is room for a kayak, but not a raft. It's a fast level, but not much play when it's like this. Took us 8 min. from the bridge to the take out. Usually a half hour or so.

Hey Ron, there is a section in this forum for stuff like this. It helps so it doesn't get lost in jargon. It does help to post in both places at the same time.

here is the link. WOAH!!!
