I almost never look at Eddyflower.com anymore, but happened to see a post there that the dam at the powerplant is reconfigured, and the eddies may not be there for the portage; so take a look at the powerplant gates before committing to an eddy that might not be there (not sure how where the best scout is for this actually):

As I recall, the normal right eddy for the portage was not there because those dam gates were open. They caught a left eddy to portage the powerplant dam. But if the dam gates are being changed, should take a look and see if there is a right or left eddy, before committing into the powerplant area (on the Eggs run).
