Upper Gorge of Virgin on Thursday? Empty Upper Gorge of Virgin on Thursday?

Hey,

Another Las Vegas kayaker and I are probably going to head up to the upper gorge of the Virgin in AZ (above cedar pockets) on Thursday. If anyone wanted to come down and save us having to drive 2 cars, that would be great.

Also, neither of us have done the run before. It sounds fairly mellow from the AW description, but some first hand beta would be nice.

Ran this last year. Beautiful little run, and I can't think of anything above class III. Enjoy the float. Hope for a bit of rain or melt, 317 seems a bit bony. Doable but Scrapy.

I think this site does the area a little better than AW.

Hmm, it said 400 and something yesterday. Seems to vary a lot. Maybe it'll come back up for us.

Did you drive up and meet me, my brother and John Allsmen to do the unborn soul a few years back? I think we've met. I was out from Colorado at the time.

that pic was taken the day before thanksgiving. then, on sunday, rick, his bro, shanshine, and i paddled westwater.

Hell yeah. We'll definitely have to meet up again for some boating. Actually... my brother is going to be out here in May. There may be a day or two for some boating at the very end of the month between our canyoning trip in Zion and my brother flying back to NC.
