Lets hear some goals for this season.
What are you goals for this season.
Mine are.
Start working on the North Fork of the Payette.
Hand Paddle in the Green Race.
Run gore, and work on Hand Paddling Gore. Try to make it to the Gore race.
Hand Paddle Lower Mesa. Not a hard goal just something I want to do.
Get up to the PNW, and run the Little White Salmon.
If I get the chance run Ravens Fork in NC.
In one week I may be looking at Cumberland Falls in KY.
Run Sunshine on the Green Narrows. The only drop on the Green that I have not done.
I will be Level IV ACA certified as a kayak instructor in two weeks. Getting my Certs from the NOC. With that I plan to teach this season bringing my love of this sports to others. I have some non conventional students lined up for teaching. And I hope to help them boat properly.
I also want to try to end differences with other boaters in the community.

Goal: To share the river with good company as much as possible.
Another Goal: To keep the search and rescue from interrupting Johnnies daily class 2 float.

Nice; I was thinking my goal 1 is not to get hurt; but I guess that's included in having fun :-)

Word FSM, and ditto Brighton.
I Have run gore a couple of times with hand paddlers. After a swim (and a hike right below scissors), and seeing the remnants of so many broken paddles, I think hand paddling that run may just have some advantages.
Oh, and "Whirled Peas".

Isn't this what we do in the winter? :-) Maybe since not much is running; is that what brings this on? I was hoping to get out to Oregon this spring; but now I have a j o b; might get in the way.Flying_Spaghetti_Monster wrote:Well maybe I should have said your must hit list.
Brietenbush; Opal; EFL; upper Wind; White Salmon...some other time I guess...
I am still hoping for decent flows on the Logan (600+?); 700 should bring in Logan Staircase; I have never done that; there is one for you FSM.
Sounds like Woodland is running nicely on the Provo right now. There is some adventure boating/wood-dodging to be done in the Uintas forest from Soapstone to Woodland (probably never been hand paddled :-).
Big Slide and Second Box? You should put that on your list Daniel. That may be in right now. Who knows if the road is open?
BV, Joes Valley; Main H, LFH perhaps... we shall see.

I was gonna say that Pineview and Causey were "100%" full yesterday, and I don't see why the Narrows aren't running;
http://www.usbr.gov/uc/water/basin/tc_wf.html
but the Narrows is back up to 247. Thats a start- come on 300!

Re: Lets hear some goals for this season.
slow, barely use the paddle, head to the shoulder rolls.
stow rox in Ginz's boat without him knowing.
Keep running creative lines rather than the usuals.
Patiently teach the gf better eddying, ferries, pin technique, etc so she's safe and i don't have to worry.
Spend an entire day hiking/lapping/surfing Kahuna or Lunch Counter Wave (never can keep em straight).
Blunts. flat water wheels? It is the year of flatwater progression after all.
Tighter, more precise eddie turns and microeddies.
Creekboat technique
A remix 79 or some old beater boat.
Question how far i want to take class iv big water runs. Class iv bony and technical is fun and fine.
and the biggest goal: Understand hydraulics of holes not from talk or theory but being in them. Start in small ones, progress to bigger. no longer fear those that make you swim and give you a beatdown. Find the green, stay relaxed.
More awesome friends and wild, compelling conversation like with kiev and Senor Houndstooth Boof. Thanks bro.
