Hi all,
I just moved into the area a few days ago from the East coast. I'm used to kayaking/playboating throughout the winter but I'm not sure where to go around the Salt Lake City area. Are there any decent playspots that aren't totally dry this time of year?

Check eddyflower.com for Howards Hole and OPP. Howards is near SLC and OPP is in Ogden (Ogden play park) both have some water. Layton wavepool is tonight and would be a good place to meet locals.

Hi Pete
I could be up for 89 to Riverdale again (class II-III with some IV- wood dodging). Its so unusual for the Weber to have 400 cfs this time of year. This afternoon anyone? Its in South Ogden/Uinta/Riverdale area.

A playboat would be fine, except that its 10 miles with a lot of flats; I was the only one in a playboat last time, and I was lagging.

Sounds like fun, I don't think I'll be able to put on before 3 though. What websites are best for river descriptions and levels in Utah?

Eddyflower.com probably still has the best Utah run descriptions online.
http://eddyflower.com/CountryDetail.aspx?StateId=2#/home
There is also Americanwhitewater.org.
Dreamflows.com is good for the PNW and more, but doesn't have much for UT. They have done some interesting flow modeling for some runs that don't have good gauges, and they also provide their "Trigger Levels", which is nice (so does AW).

The Ogden and Weber rivers are up here by Ogden. The Logan is another hour north; there is a play wave up there that should have enough water actually; I've been meaning to check it out.
This is the run I'm talking about.

Hennefer to Taggart is also running, and has a small wave for front surfs at Croyden.

Here is the park and play that Jeff mentioned; "OPP". Its fun, but don't set your expectations too high; its sort of a shallow side surf; spins possible, and there is an ugly factory on the right, but it has water.

Riverdale wave area doesn't have a wave right now, but it does have snappy ferries and eddy turns.

I've also set a couple gates in the flats above the drops. Its a decent place for attainment workouts (considering I live 6 blocks away anyway :-).
Cheers
Bill
