Ogden Downriver race details
Come on out for the annual Ogden Narrows Race, this year sponsored by the Utah Whitewater Club, Rapid Progression Kayak School and the ASK. Cash money and gear prizes!
So here are the long awaited details...
The racing will begin at 10 am.
...
Please be there at least a half hour early to register. Registration will open at 9.
Registration cost will be 20 dollars.
There will be a boat length limit of 9 feet to keep it fair. Just leave your dancers and T canyons at home. This is done to keep the race fair and to judge the paddler not the boat.
The race will be three rounds of head to head Boating(ie boater cross). Four or five boaters per heat depending on turnout. The winners of each heat will advance to the next round. The first round all boaters will also be timed. The paddlers with the fastest time(number determined by number of entrants) that did not win their heat will also advance.
Round 2 winners determined by finish line win only. Winners of each heat will advance to final race.
Round 3 Boater cross for the crown.
Prizes.
Top five paddlers will receive cash awards. All entry fees after covering costs are the kitty.
There are also sizable prize awards. The distribution of these will be determined race day as we figure out everything that has been donated. We have received an amazing amount of support from both paddle shops and product manufacturers. Please support your local shops and businesses. They certainly support you.
Please, if you have any questions or if I have missed something, please contact Jeff, Andy, or myself.
Cheers!
Craig

Ogden Narrows Race Shirts ?
Just wondering if anyone was thinking of getting shirts made for the race, kinda like the Evanston Race shirts. All I am saying is if someone decides to make some I would buy one

Make sure they are stone cold bad ass. Dark or light blue would be a great color for a shirt. I did not know you made shirts Alan. Either way I look forward to seeing what they look like.

Hey cool Clay let us see what it looks like. It would be cool to have the sponsors on the back just like the Evanston shirt did. An idea is also to have a few different designs, and then let the community vote on which one they like the most. Just a thought, but it would sell more shirts.

Impressive drawing skills, but I wouldn't buy a shirt with a naked satan on it.

Re: Ogden Downriver race details
We opted out on the shirts. Between the aca fee and the cost of the shirt there would have been 15 bucks taken out of the 20 dollar registration. Leaving five bucks left per paddler to cover the event cost leaving very little for the race winners. The costs would have taken to large of a hit on the prize money. If there is enough demand we could do a order at the race for a limited run at 15 a pop to cover the shirt and shipping if anyone really wants one.

Hey man I like both the sticker and the shirt. I was not thinking about giving them away I was thinking who ever makes them should sell them. I would buy one if it does not end up happening cool, but it would be cool to have one. Ogden Narrows race hurry up, and get here. I am in the armpit of the universe a place called Pinedale Wyoming. I am going to screw around in Idaho this weekend, and then head down for the race next week end. I can't wait.

Give Josh Anderson my regards. If you can't find him,. stop anyone on the street to convey the message.

Yeah I tried texting him. I am sure if I said something to someone in the area they would know him. Man this place is small.

Word on the street is the dam will start releasing at 8, putting water in the narrows by 9. I will be there at 8 set up and registering. Hit up the registration, then get your warm up on. So excited for this. I would like to meet with volunteers at 8:45 to hit details at the take out on the east side of the river(footbridge). Gonna be sweet. Also, please park in the dirt areas on either side of the road at the takeout before opting for Rainbow Gardens. If you use rainbow garden's parkinlot please use the spots on the west/southwest of the lot.
Cheers!
