Here's some info from my recent trip down the Muddy 6/20-22; approx 300 cfs

Put in right at exit 99 off of I-70. Try to find a put-in south of the highway to avoid lots of nasty fences and wood. There was a car just south of the highway on river left. I'm not sure how it got there, but looked like a much better put-in. There's nothing at that exit - just your typical Ranch exit in the middle of nowhere so if you just try all the roads, you're bound to find someway to get there. If not, just add a little time and hassle to do 3-4 portages.

We did from I-70 to Hidden Splendor in 3 pretty big days. Lone Tree Crossing is another possible put-in but looks like a long drive to get there. Cuts off 11 miles of the run (but I would still do 3 days).

Good camping right where the river enters the Wilderness Study area (see the Nat'l Geographic San Rafael Swell topo map). I would recommend trying to camp in this area on the first night and in the Chute on the 2nd night. Or do 3 nights.

Some gnats at the camps in the few miles before Tomisch Butte. Annoying, but they don't bite. LOTS of biting deer flies at the camps around Tomisch Butte and for a few miles after. Also, it rained the day or 2 before we got there so maybe not so bad if it hasn't rained in a while.

Very fun trip! Good to be in the UT desert. Good solitude before Tomisch Butte.
