I floated pineview today and wrote up a bad-ass trip report- Just to lose it right before I posted it. FML...I'm going to bed.
In a nutshell, it's a wild ride at 700cfs. I was hoping the higher flows would make it less bumpy than the 300ish level I did it at last year. The first half goes fast- the sporatic Class II+ drops are a nice warm up for things to come. Starting at the bridge, behind the Alaskan Inn, it's petal to the metal for the last half. The main 'crux move' bend is balls to the wall. You can see a line, scouting it, where you think you won't hit anything, but I still somehow managed to find a rock, just exiting 'the move', and recieved a huge boat-bottom dent; seen after taking out of course. The 'second crux' was a great little boof and, down river a little bit, the 'keeper wave' (not sure what people call this spot but If you've run it at these high levels, I think you know where I'm talking about) shot me up, corkscrewed, turn me sideways, and I'm looking at the wave- sideways. A split second I thought, "Get a roll ready!" But I just punched right though it with hardly a brace, whatever. The take-out drop was surprisingly smooth, followed with a frantic ferry to grab a tree just below the take-out eddy to finish an exciting run, to say the least.
