Re: I think eddyflower is back up.
Talked to the owner today. While he was paddling in Alaska they had a issue with switching the server. While it was down their data got ravished by a nasty virus(ugly thought, may have been introduced by hoster). Due to some unsavory corespondence with some local (utah) folks, If EF comes back there will not be a UWC forum period. Those bridges were burned. It will most likely be stripped down to the flows, boats and the vc. If anything, there will most likely be a link to this site for the UT forum.

Who cares if it is a UWC forum or not. I think everyone just wants the flows, boat info, and run descriptions anyway. I think there was some talk about making a Utah Whitewater Community forum. That is how it should be, people should be able to post club members or not. Then if there is a trip that people want to be just for the club or certain group email the members of that group. I wish that we were not dependent on eddyflower for flow information, and run descriptions, but we are. Maybe we should just start using American Whitewater.

American Whitewater has an excellent list of runs. They just need a little more info about the local runs. Their flow info is also OK if not great.
Playak.com has an excellent boat database. Using Eddyflower was nice but I don't see it as necessary.

Eddyflower exploded with there run descriptions... Tons of runs, some times duplicated with shitty directions. They need a way to police the descriptions and class ratings... Spanish Fork, class 3

Another great site for runs and flows is Dreamflows. I'm sure this site will end up with good local run beta, getting there already. Oh, and Spanish Fork would be a class 3 if you were being chased by a moose towards a logjam.

I've switched to this site.
riverbrain.com
You have control to update or change any of the information about runs or descriptions. I added my favorite runs and it gives me the real time flows. It also looks like someone has put a bunch of runs in already for UT.

Eddyflower was a really nice feature....unfortunately it seems like people have learned to kayak without using guide books and the old flow line to check flows.....
who ever heard of running to the river to see if its running and or scouting blind corners......
I miss those days!
