Which is better for snow kayaking, displacement or planing hull?

Re: snow kayaking
Planing- knowing it has edges gives you a false sense of security that you can control it as you helplessly hurl toward an ouchie object.

Whichever one is lighter
Starts to get heavy after the 4th or 5th trip back up the hill.
I have only ever done it with a planing hull and it was really fun.

Re: snow kayaking
I would think it depends on conditions.
Either hull should provide good powder carving; with paddle help.
The more packed it is, though, a full displacement would provide less control and you'd just skip down the slope spinning on whilly-nilly; where a planing hull might provide a little control-like having a big snowboard strapped to your butt(bracing with the paddle).

That is the best laugh I've had all day!!
Planing hull to the max, such as a surf kayak retrofitted with metal edges!
