Just moved to SLC, looking to get back in the boat, still newish
I am pretty new in town, I just moved from Michigan, where I have spent most of my kayaking time in the Great Lakes, and the rivers within. That means that I have next to no whitewater experience. Heh! I have a Liquid Logic Lil' Joe, but all I have used it for is surfing waves in Lake Michigan, and a few creeks, but it's nothing like what you all have here.
Since I lost my neoprene spray skirt (DOH) a few years ago, and haven't replaced it, I have been getting by with a standard skirt, but I don't think it's going to cut it here.
I would love some recommendations on places to go to build my skills, and get back into my WW boat. I have heard that the Provo River is pretty tame, is that true? I have an NRS drysuit, to keep from freezing my boys off, since the water here is a bit colder than where I come from.
Thoughts, suggestions, derision welcome.

Check out the swimming pool roll sessions at the U of U.
Provo River - Deer Creek to Vivian Park is the best class II around. Scout the wood trestle bridge for wood, or portage it.
If you have a river roll, then check out the other noob post for some of the local class II-III runs. Tuesday evenings there is a Hen-Tag run. You will want a river roll at these high levels.
"Standard skirt" - you mean a touring spray skirt? That is not standard for whitewater; get a spray skirt.
