Newbie looking to get into the Utah kayaking scene
I am intereested in making 2011 a year of great kayaking. I have only limited experience but am ready to take on a challange. I was interested in the Green River trip that I saw posted for April 30 - May 1 but didn't see anywhere to sign up. Can someone recomend a good place for me to get started, perhaps there is a shop in SLC that keeps up with all the info on Utah whitewaters?
I appreciate anyone to take the time and get me headed in the right direction.

Do you need gear, or just trying to find a place to kayak that is with in your abilities? I would say the Upper Henefer to Henefer run is a good place to start. If you would like I could a small group together to help you out. Also feel free to call or text me at 801-678-9130

Utah Kayak School does lessons for a good price, the link is on the right.
BYU is having a pool/roll session this Weds. Im sure you could get alot of free pointers there.
I'd say run the whole hen-tag tubing section. I've taken multiple first time yakers down it. They did just fine, they have been pretty athletic to start out with though. Just don't go alone.
Provo town is a good one too.
I sure Brandon will chime in about the club trip to the green. Thats Utah's blue ribbon noob run and you will be with good folks.
If your in the Provo area, ill boat with ya. My phone number is in my profile or just PM me.

I will say something else. I will take you down most newb runs for practice, but if you want really great guys to teach you the right way from the beginning check out Rapid Progression Kayak School. Here is the link http://www.rapidprogresionkayak.com/
I wish I would have started with a school from the beginning I think I would be much farther in my boating than I am. Send them, and email or call them they are great guys.

If your in central Utah "Sevier Valley" give me a call. There are a lot of calm canals to get your roll in and then we could hit the River. Also, there are some friendly play holes here too. 435-201-0802 ronald.hamblin@gmail.com
