Re: Kayak Race on the Weber, July 29th! $2000 cash prizes
Anyone hear what the boat dimensions limits on the 8 ball are? length of kayak namely? And how much contact we can dish up to those trying to mess with us on the route?
Have been combing the site but am not finding it so far.

If there are no limits listed, I guess you can assume there is no limit. I haven't heard of any. Contact amount will be briefed prior to race. This is the first year of this kayak race so things are being worked out as they go.

here's the skinny on 8 ball race boater contact from an organizer, Betsy.
-The person that wins this event will be the cleanest, smoothest paddler with the best time.
-Sportsmanlike contact advised for competitors as well as 8-balls.
-Hands must be on the paddle at all times.
-Intentional board/body strikes with the paddle will be considered malicious contact and paddler will be disqualified.
-No jabbing with paddle.
-No grabbing with hands, both hands must remain on paddle at all time. Any grabbing or pulling on a fall will be an automatic DQ.
Boat requirements:
Maximum length 9 ft.
Plastic only creek boats are advised
The course is 1/4 mile long. We will put in at the train trestle before Taggart Falls. The race starts from there, through the falls and ends at the take out area.

What a great race day. So much fun.
I need a couple boaters to help me with safety this Tues morning at Taggert falls for the Boardworks Blow up and Show Up SUP race. There will be more people related to the OR Show attending, so it should be a hoot. Need three more bodies. PM me if you can make it.
Many thanks!
